First off, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] n! I hope you have a good one. :)

Secondly I did make it to Lance Corporal last night and, seeing as I play Spec Ops the most, I chose the G36c as my weapon unlock. It's the shit, so much more accurate when firing bursts.

At my current rate I'll probably hit Corporal tonight or tomorrow, so I'll be taking the L85A1 as my second unlock, as that's the only other kit I play the most.

I realised recently how awesome the MEC Engineer is at close quarters; his semi-auto shotgun can take anyone out in about three or four shots, which only takes a second to shoot, and coupled with his AT mines he's pretty awesome for flag defence.

In other news it's airsoft again this weekend. Team Wildclaw will be out playing war at Close Action in Peterborough on Sunday.

Lastly it's only 13 weeks until I fly out to America. :D

It seems likely that I'll probably hit Lance Corporal as soon as I start playing BF2 tonight, so I'm going to aim for Corporal by the end of Friday evening (800 points, an extra 281 on top of my current 519). I would go for it tonight but it's clan practice. :)
Seeing as the two classes I play the most are Medic and SpecOps I'll be going for the special weapons for those classes (L85A1 for the Medic and G36c for SpecOps).

Clan practice should be fun tonight and it will most likely have a bearing on whether I get invited into the clan or not. If I continue to play like I have been for the last few days I should be well in there. :)

I got to 519 points yesterday after a couple of hours on Battlefield 2, feeling quite happy with myself in the knowledge that 500 points is the required amount to be promoted to Lance Corporal (after the recent update). So why the shitting-crikey haven't I been promoted? >:|

The BFHQ is now showing that I need another 400+ points to hit Lance Corporal, as though the points requirements hadn't changed from the original requirements (although that was the same for Private First Class and I still got promoted at the right time). Someone suggested that it sometimes takes a while for the promotion to register, but I logged in first thing this morning and still no promotion. Do I need to take part in another round before I get said promotion?

I guess I'll have another go tonight. At this rate I should theoretically have enough points to make Corporal (800 points) by Friday, unless EA have moved the goalposts.

More general news later.

Woo, I had a fun time this weekend. Spent most of it with [livejournal.com profile] wolfarlis, [livejournal.com profile] d_raven, and [livejournal.com profile] rapidofrog!

I also made the rank Private First Class on Battlefield 2 last night! I've still got a way to go before I get my first weapon unlock though. There's a good chance I might be joining a BF2 clan soon as well. :)

You can see my BF2 stats here.

Next weekend we're going airsofting again. Should be fun. :)

EDIT: I'm feeling really icky today. Churning stomach, blocked sinuses, dizzyness. This feels like more than just the Monday morning blues. Maybe some breakfast will help.

Yum!

I have Parkin. :D

Lunch consisted of a Ginsters Chunky Steak Pasty and some chicken legs. Parkin is being saved for tonight. <3

In work related news things have been nice today. Looking forward to going home at the end of the day to get on with BF2.

Had a really nice email conversation with a couple of people last night about FC. Everything seems to be lining up well for that now and I'm bleeding excited about it. :D

It's Tuesday and I'm feeling quite tired, but this is most likely due to the fact that I've caught a goddamn cold and I'm coughing and sneezing every few seconds. It seems that I am not the only one either, as quite a few of my work colleagues have a cold too. x_x

DoD:Source was released last night (whilst I was asleep, no less) so I'll probably try it out tonight along with getting some time into BF2 and possibly Guild Wars.

In other news I'm looking through prospective pubs and bars for the Leeds furmeet, trying to find one that has a private function room for us to use. The daft thing is that I know of loads of places in Wakefield that would do, but none in Leeds. ;)

More later.

EDIT: Trust there to be a Leeds United match on the day of the Leeds meet. x_x

Woo!

Just an hour until it's the weekend for me! *dance* I've decided that I'm going to finish Half Life 2 TONIGHT which will leave the remainder of my spare time for Guild Wars and Battlefield 2, maybe do a little website work too.

Music wise I've been listening to Clannd and Enya a lot after buying "Lore" (Clannad) and "Paint the Sky with Stars" (Enya). I've always liked this style of music and it's plainly obvious that Enya has drawn on what she learnt in Clannad.
Of all the songs I've been listening to, I've found Enya's "Boadicea" and Clannad's "Croi Croga" particularly moving. It's not often that songs give me goosebumps, but these two tracks really play with me.
I've said it before, but it bears repeating, music means a lot to me. Too bad that I've got no natural rhythm...

I'm gonna start on a little Hallowe'en project soon. Hallowe'en's really the only event of the year I truly enjoy, everything else pales in comparison. There's something about it that seems more real and magical than any other event in the year and it makes me feel content deep inside. This year I'm gonna prepare everything in advance and I'll have a little Wiccan celebration too. :)

Lastly there's only four more months (18 weeks) until I fly out to Portland to see the PDX crew for a week, then on to FC to spend a week with [livejournal.com profile] dark_fang and [livejournal.com profile] ysengrin. I'm really looking forward to those three weeks on the eastWEST side of America, it'll be great to see all my friends again. :)

I think that's enough rambling for now. Laters!

I did forget to mention earlier that I had quite a lot of fun yesterday in BF2 playing as Spec Ops. I'd hide and wait till an enemy tank rolled past me, then run up behind it and slap a couple of C4 charges onto it before running to hide, then detonating the C4. >:D

I was also able to knife a sniper in the face as he was switching from his rifle to his pistol. >:)

Fun Fun Fun! More tonight, methinks.

I've gotten to the mines in HL2, but I'm sure I've still got a helluva long way to go before I'll be anywhere near completing the game.

I also need to play Battlefield 2 on ranked servers more.

Last night

So last night was spent mostly alternating between Guild Wars and Battlefield 2. I have to say that I am very impressed with Battlefield 2, it's a lot more fun than Battlefield 1942 was, that and I prefer contemporary games over historical ones.

Guild Wars made me smile last night, I'm now able to play it with the graphics settings up full at 1600x1200. It's quite yummy like that. :>

I'm gonna try upping the graphics on Planetside tonight and then go kill stuff, see if I still like it (hint[livejournal.com profile] jacelhint). After that I'll probably go on Guild Wars again, maybe go questing with [livejournal.com profile] schnee for a bit. :)

In other news it's the York NorthernFurs this weekend, so I'll be bouncing around there again. I'll also be recording short interviews for VLF's next show (which is the weekend after, folks), so watch me running around with a dictation machine. ;>

Last night was pretty "spur-of-the-moment". [livejournal.com profile] electricdog sent me a message just after work asking if I'd like to pop over, so I did. :)

I got back from Sheffield around 11pm and kinda went straight to bed.

Tonight I plan to start playing BF2 for a little and then spend some time on GW.

I'm also tempted to invest in Star Wars Galaxies as the triple box set is stupid-cheap right now. Any opinions on SWG?

Despite this summer being really hot and muggy, I'm still having a great time. :D

This weekend I'll be going down to London for the furmeet and to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] sphelx, and then 10 days after (two weeks today, 7th July) I'm heading out to Anthrocon for a long weekend. EF takes place a couple of weeks after that (squee!). This summer is gonna rock. :D

Had a nice convo with [livejournal.com profile] damoncanine last night, was very insightful and kinda explained a lot of things. Good luck to you, hon! :)

MMORPG-wise I've just been playing Guild Wars mostly. I did get Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, but I have to say that I'm really unimpressed with it. The graphics are only slightly better than they are on the Dreamcast version, and they keyboard control method can be figity. I've still got 13 days left of the trial, so I'll give it some time.

I'm also on XFire now as "thalifer". Feel free to add me. :)

I've also decided to get a copy of Battlefield 2 tomorrow, as it looks absolutely gorgeous and (surprisingly) runs better on my machine than BF1942 ever did!

More later as required. :)
