So I've been trying out some Half Life 2 Mods recently, of which the following three have impressed me quite a bit.

Garry's Mod: You probably know about this anyway. I finally got around to downloading and playing with it last night. It's quite fun to mess around with, and [ profile] jacel wasn't surprised when I made an Overwatch guard hump Barney (picture coming later).

Half Life 2: Substance: This is probably one of the most novel ways of rehashing Half Life 2, merging Half Life 2 with Metal Gear Solid. To start off all the difficulty levels are WAY harder than any of those in Half Life 2, but that's balanced by the HEV forms. In essence Gordon can switch between his own form and that of four others taken directly from Metal Gear Solid, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, Big Boss and Gray Fox (who has to be unlocked first) each with special abilities and weapons.
Even though it's damn hard to play and has some of the more freakier enemies which were in Half Life (Eye Hound, Bull Squid) I still love the idea of this mod.

GoldenEye:Source: GoldenEye 007 for the N64 was one of my favourite multiplayer games of all time, and to see it being faithfully recreated in Source is just brilliant. At the moment it's still in Alpha, which is obvious due to the lack of weapons and some levels not working correctly, but it's still uber nostaligic.

I'm very impressed with all of the above and can't wait to see how GoldenEye:Source progresses.

Since playing with Hammer last night I've been thinking quite a lot about making a single player Half Life 2 mod of my own based around the city that I live in. Wakefield has a wealth of history that I can draw inspiration from. ;)

I'm not going to go into detail, but when I've got a team together and we have something substantial I'll start dropping hints.

Yes that's right, in 37 days time I fly out to America for three weeks.

In other news the Christmas Cards were ordered last night and should arrive by Friday. All of next week I will be training in Manchester, and as I'll be travelling by train I have to be up at 6am each day and I won't get home until 9pm. This means that I probably wont be online at all next week, sorry folks.

I got to playing around with Hammer last night. It's not changed much from Worldcraft and it's still as easy to use as ever. I'm thinking of reproducing a few buildings with it, maybe even go as far as making a mod. :)

That's all for now, time for breakfast. :9

Just an hour until it's the weekend for me! *dance* I've decided that I'm going to finish Half Life 2 TONIGHT which will leave the remainder of my spare time for Guild Wars and Battlefield 2, maybe do a little website work too.

Music wise I've been listening to Clannd and Enya a lot after buying "Lore" (Clannad) and "Paint the Sky with Stars" (Enya). I've always liked this style of music and it's plainly obvious that Enya has drawn on what she learnt in Clannad.
Of all the songs I've been listening to, I've found Enya's "Boadicea" and Clannad's "Croi Croga" particularly moving. It's not often that songs give me goosebumps, but these two tracks really play with me.
I've said it before, but it bears repeating, music means a lot to me. Too bad that I've got no natural rhythm...

I'm gonna start on a little Hallowe'en project soon. Hallowe'en's really the only event of the year I truly enjoy, everything else pales in comparison. There's something about it that seems more real and magical than any other event in the year and it makes me feel content deep inside. This year I'm gonna prepare everything in advance and I'll have a little Wiccan celebration too. :)

Lastly there's only four more months (18 weeks) until I fly out to Portland to see the PDX crew for a week, then on to FC to spend a week with [ profile] dark_fang and [ profile] ysengrin. I'm really looking forward to those three weeks on the eastWEST side of America, it'll be great to see all my friends again. :)

I think that's enough rambling for now. Laters!

Yes it's Friday today, which means it's almost weekend time! *dance*

I'm a lot happier now, my mother's doing really well and I'm gonna spend most of tomorrow with her shopping and stuff. Saturday night I should get some fursuiting done at [ profile] foxb's, and Sunday will be chill time with [ profile] wolfarlis. :)

What did I do last night? HL2! I'm out of Nova Prospekt now and back in City 17 in the chapter "Anticitizen One", which aside from the numerous amount of Man-Hacks flying around and the "lake" of toxic waste (which the zombie's seem immune to) is a really fun chapter. I reckon I'll have it finished either tonight or later this weekend. :>

Oh yes...

That's all for now, more later!

Half-Life 2

I'm in Nova Prospekt now. WOW.

I'm so <3ing this game. ^_^

I've really come to appreciate this game, and I have to say that Half-Life 2 beats the crap out of Halo 2 by far.

Good attempt, Bungie, but Valve have beaten you and all others again. Half Life 2 was worth waiting for; I'm glad it was delayed and put back often, this stopped it from being rushed and ultimately becoming a flawed game.

F.E.A.R. may be a contender for Half Life 2 but we shall have to see when it's released in October, it certainly has some very neat concepts.

I think I shall be writing a review when I finish this lovely, nah, sexy game.

I've gotten to the mines in HL2, but I'm sure I've still got a helluva long way to go before I'll be anywhere near completing the game.

I also need to play Battlefield 2 on ranked servers more.

Despite having a crap nights sleep and getting into work late (boo! :< ) I'm feeling quite happy! This is probably due to going to Fireball's woodland site tomorrow morning with [ profile] badgerguy, [ profile] foxdie, [ profile] moonwolf and [ profile] omega256. [ profile] wolfarlis would be coming too but he's got work this weekend, which is a bleeding shame as we were all looking forward to having our newest member come out with us. Oh well, there will be a next time! :D
I won't be online after the end of work today until Sunday evening.

In other news I've gotten mid-way through Ravenholm on Half Life 2 and things are really starting to get yummy. :D
Annnd that's about it for now.

Well it's Tuesday and I'm back in work after a much needed three day weekend (thanks to the Bank Holiday)!

The York meet on Saturday rocked, thanks guys!

Guild Wars is keeping me busy on an evening. The reason I dropped Matrix Online was that I wasn't getting as much satisfaction out of it as I was from Guild Wars. Speaking of which I spent some of Saturday night playing Guild Wars with [ profile] ysengrin before it went titsup. I really need to play it more instead of procrastinating.
The rest of Saturday and Sunday night was spent playing HL2:DM with [ profile] dark_fang, which was fantastic! What a beatiful game it is... *happy sigh*

For those who don't already know [ profile] noble_reloaded sent me piccies last night of Boswell's complete head! Piccies are in my previous post and my gallery.

More later as events warrent!

TFI Friday (no, not the Chris Evans show)! :D

I spent a good hour of so playing Guild Wars with [ profile] schnee, which was quite fun. I need to play it more often. :)
After the hour or so I started experiencing some major lag which ended up with my disconnection from the game and inhibility to reconnect successfully for the rest of the evening.

I took the oppourtunity to install and play Half Life 2 for a little while. It's a nice surprise to see games automatically set the graphics to high everything and run uber smoothly at those settings. ^.^

I'll give it to Valve, they really know how to set the scene. Source is beautiful and I'm sure will end up being a mod-makers fave for a long time to come, just as the original Half-Life did. :)

Anyway, more later!

P.S. I should have an update on Boswell after this weekend! :D

My copy of Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition arrived today, in all it's metal tinned t-shirt contained glory!

Now I can finally start playing around with HL:Source. :D
