To top off the receiving of TIE Fighter yesterday, today I received X-Wing! :D

Tonight will be a frenzy of Star Wars nostalgia... and suddenly I have an urge to get an Imperial Officer uniform and a blaster rifle. :>

I wonder if an airsoft version of the Sterling L2A3 has been made yet...

Now when are they going to release an updated spangly graphics version? Of course...aside from Star Wars BattlefrontII that is...er...

I can't wait for the new RTS version of Star Wars that coming out. SO long as its not anywhere near as bad as Force Commander it should be fun to blast rebels with any army of ATAT's.

The Collector Editions

X-Wing was re-released as Collector's CD-ROM, with the expansion packs included. It tweaks various areas of the game by including bugfixes, easy versions of some old missions, improves graphics, rehashes cutscenes, adds bonus missions, as well as voiceovers for the mission briefings and the in-game radio messages. The in-flight engine is improved to the caliber of the later Star Wars: TIE Fighter game, which is an improved version of the original X-Wing game featuring Gouraud shading.

A cut-down version of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was re-released as part of the X-Wing Collector Series, which also contains the Collector's CD-ROM versions of the first two games. In this edition, X-Wing and Star Wars: TIE Fighter are retrofitted with the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter graphics engine, which uses texture mapping instead of Gouraud shading.

There was also an X-Wing Trilogy release containing X-Wing and TIE Fighter with the updated graphics engine, a demo version of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance.

Odd, when I looked it up on Amazon one of the comments says its definately doesn't work! Does it need a joystick though or can I play it like I did the original with just keyboard and mouse?

Well i used the joystick. I just cant play it with a mouse, doesnt give you the right kind of feel for the game.

I assume you can still use the mouse. Although I cant be certain, I never would have looked for that option.

I've always prefered to use a joystick too, for all flight sims. Being forced to use the mouse in Freelancer was one of my peeves of the game.

I actually like the mouse in freelancer, you dont have to keep rolling it like you did in xwing to climb or pitch. Also about the time i got Freelancer my joystick was screwing up ;)

I've been thinking about making one myself at some point, need to get a working sewing machine though as the one I did get broke down very quickly. x_x

I got a Singer 191 D200A. It's a motor fault, it'd siezed up pretty bad from who knows what and I don't have the expertise or the wherewithall to get it repaired. Unfortunately the place I bought it from closed up shop a few days after I bought it, so I was unable to complain to them about it.

Now it's just gathering dust.

Ouch! And it was new? Well, I'd heard Singer was going downhill in quality but that's still surprising.

I've had good luck with Husqvarna, if you're going to be getting a new one. (Replacing the engine on a sewing machine is usually pricey... Though is it under manufacturer warranty?)
