I spent a good portion of last night playing around with Gentoo, almost an hour of which was spent trying to figure out why the console framebuffer wasn't working right. In the end I just removed nvidiafb (framebuffer for nVidia cards) from the kernel and used vesafb (generic framebuffer) instead, which worked fine.

Tonight I plan to at least get X, ALSA and WINE installed. I'll be happy if I can be playing EVE before the end of tonight. :)

Many thanks go out to ceralor for his advice. My linux mind was stuck in Debian mode and I was having a hard time trying to remember how Gentoo works. Thankfully it's all coming back. :D

Oh yes, my machine is now called "Mother".

You need to get on yahoo so I can play with talk to you this morning at work. It's gonna be slower than yesterday and I might even be sent home. The heat index is supposed to be 105F to 110F. }:=8/
