Head's up!

Just a quick head's up here to let you guys know that I will be in Leeds tonight and probably most of tomorrow. I'm going to spend the night with Zac chilling out and maybe watching some films.

I've also got my rear back onto Skype, so if anyone wants to talk to me that way then you can get my Skype info from my profile page.

Are you using ALSA for the sound? If so have you checked to make sure that the microphone isn't muted in alsamixer?

Yeah, nothing's muted.

My problem is bizzarre though... In addition to the mic not working, the sound comes out the speakers whether or not there's headphones in.

I know the headphone port works because I used headphones at FC when I was on my laptop while you guys were still asleep.

Now, I was running Windows XP MCE at the time, and now I'm using Ubuntu... which makes me wonder if the headphone/mic ports are software driven... somehow. o.o

*nods* I suspect that the sound management is software driven. You may need to change the audio drivers in ALSA to ones for your laptop's sound chip. I'm just trying to find some stuff on Google for you.

If i had a mic, i'd be using Skype too...

Still have the installer for it, though.
