Half-Life 2 and Portal PORTED to Linux?!

It looks like it's going to happen.

In case you haven't already heard, Valve recently advertised a position for a Senior Software Engineer to "Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform."

Fuck. Yes. :D

I'm surprised it's taken this long for them to get interested in the Linux crowd.

Now thats some good news. Too bad I don't use Linux!

Shame they aren't advertising for the position of Whip Master or Dominatrix to "Ensure episodic content is delivered in a reasonable time frame". But these days if they are focusing on Linux _only_ they've missed the (air-)boat (again). They should be looking at all Un*x: Linux, OS X, and Solaris.

Wow, thats technically what my degree makes me! Minus the senior bit D:

Thats like, the first time i've ever seen anyone type "Software Engineer" and not have a fissy fit they we arn't "real engineers" blah blah blah BOLLOCKS

I run a weekly LAN gaming party at work, and because Linux is the platform we have to use for licensing/infrastructure reasons, anything Steam-related has been out of the question. Let's hope this means folks can have Counterstrike someday!
