Music: Anti-Folk - Kimya Dawson

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who commented yesterday; both Damon and I appreciate the well-wishes. :)

I'm not really a fan of folk music, but anti-folk seems like something I could really get into, especially after seeing Juno and hearing Kimya Dawon's music (Thanks V!).

It's incredibly experimental and eclectic folk music with interesting lyrics, vocal style, mostly recorded lo-fi. Methinks I need to delve into the little genre more. :)

Typical timing, you posted it just after I went to bed *HUGS*
Well here's hoping that there's no issues and he gets over here with no problems =D

If folk and anti-folk touch, do they annihilate each other?

The energy released would destroy the planet at the very least...... but I'm willing to test it :)

What is this? Yesterday I've never heard of Anti-folk, then I find that that Tom Morello's solo album is Anti-Folk and now I see it everywhere! Yet I am still yet to hear it.

I like folk music :3

Its a meaningless label, a bit like Country and alt.country, they just dont want to be called folk lol. Its not cool enough.

Anti-folk stuff is kinda fun, tho a bit of a record label thing, its been around about 5 years - You should definitely look up the Moldy Peaches stuff and Jeffery Lewis ("The Last time I did acid I went insane" is a great track) and check out Major Matt Mason and Toby Goodshank.

I have a few cd's i could send.

I was so lucky to see one of the anti-folk tours of the UK a few years back, these bands are at their best live.
