Hmm, I shall have to look into this myself one of these days. Planning to do a bit of Home DDR myself. Strictly for the exercise, you understand?
From what I gather, you need a converter that can put the pad into analog mode (which also allows it to appear as four buttons (allowing two-foot moves) instead of two axes).
BTW, have you seen PyDDR? Python-based DDR. Open source, add your own tracks with ease :)
