In a fit of boredom I produced the following. It's quite rough around the edges as I only spent an hour on it, but I did learn quite a lot from the experience.

Enjoy! Comments and constructive criticism appreciated, but bear in mind that this is only a test of the capabilities of After Effects.

pretty good! I'd add more flash considering you're in a dark corridor (and ramp the volume up). You could also add the tingling sound effect for brass shells hitting the ground. :)

also since youre in a dark corridor shouldnt the muzzle flash illuminate the wall somewhat for each shot?

This :V

But then again alot of things people realise they should have added only end up getting worked in after people point out they're missing. It's just one of those things.

Also where'd you get the noise for the gun? Sounds like the pistol from HL2.

As far as guns go though, I've always wanted one of those chinese red 9 pistols. THey're fucking awesome.

I have a German "red nine", it was a conversion piece but I converted it back to 7.63 mm Mauser. It's an M30 Broomhandle.

German > Chinese

though many of the chinese variants were in .45 ACP

<3

They are gorgeous but very fussy and tend to eat springs.

As far as I know the version in Resident Evil 4 is a chinese variation, as is the one that Eva uses in Metal Gear solid three. I can't actually own guns over here so the next best thing is video games really D:

D: ino, sucks. fuckin bureaucrats with nothing better to do than regulate people to death.

come to the USA lol

In buying spare parts for mine i've done a bit of research on the diferent submodels. The one Eva uses in MGS3 is a Shansei Type 17 in .45 ACP, it was a moderately larger pistol than the german ones. The Hanyang C96s (another earlier Chinese copy) were original size and caliber (7,63mm). These arms are surprisingly well made compared to most chinese small arms. Though the workmanship and metallurgy of the german guns is invariably better.

The "Red Nines" had the red nine engraved on the handle, were so marked to distinguish them as 9mm pistols instead of 7,63 mm. All of the "Red Nines" were German made for the german army or as "bolo" versions for Russian export. I do not believe the Chinese ever made a production 9mm version. As such the Red Nine as featured in RE4 must be German.

The old 7,63 mil cartridge actually has more pentrating power than 9mm and has a longer range, though the rounds are closely related. the previous owner of my gun converted it to 9mm, i converted it back for originiality's sake and a bit more power.

Gun control is a good thing in some cases. I don't think people should be trusted with firearms just because it happens to be "Their right" as a citizen of whichever country.

Everything you could possibly want to know about the C96 and its variants!

Note that there are a few firms in England who do sell de-activated ones to the public, if you really desire one.

Awesome! Very cool effects.

Also, it looks like you went for the old one shot to the groin then 6 to the face.. I love it <3

It's probably testament to the quality that it took me a couple of watches before I worked out where the effects were. There was I expecting fades and sparkles and other stuff. Like the video equivalent of a newsletter done up in Microsoft Publisher. So glad it's nothing like that.

I think it looks fine, the only thing I can think of would be to add a few more details like some of the others said.

Out of curiosity, about how difficult was it to make this? I've toyed with the idea of making some little movies with friends, and obviously faking a convincing gunfight is one of the harder things to do on such a tight budget. I don't want to have to give it the Starship Troopers 2 treatment. :P
