One thing I always find funny about World Cup time is that almost as soon as England get knocked out then all the St. George's flags go down.
This year was no exception. Within an hour of England losing to Portugal there was not a flag flying in my street, when there had been tons before. Seriously.
Since when did the St. George's flag stop being a symbol of England as a country and start being a symbol for the English football team. Methinks that it was probably around the same time that we Brits started taking the game too seriously.
Yep, we aren't 'alf a competetive bunch.

Date: 2006-07-04 04:08 pm (UTC)I think the whole England vs GB thing is sport is down to how the game is played. The "team" games (football/soccer, rugby, cricket) are England, but those that aren't (Olympics kinda, Formula One, Tennis, Golf) are GB/UK.
And uber-yay for Rikter! ^.^
