I've recently acquired a copy of the old DOS classic Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares (AKA MOO2). I had bought MOO3 a while ago and thought it was overly complex considering what it is. I did play MOO2 a long while ago whilst I was staying at Crimson's place when he still lived in London.

So I slapped MOO2 onto my laptop (running via DOSbox) and spent about two hours on Friday getting to grips with the game. Fuck me, it is AMAZING. I'm not generally a fan of turn-based strategies on computers, but I was in awe at how awesome this game is.

My flatmate, Greyfawlk, noticed my playing it and asked if I'd install it on his machine. So I did, and set up the game for multiplayer. Sweet Jeebus that game is HAWT in multiplayer.

We spent 14 hours, FOURTEEN HOURS, playing a single game and not once did we get bored. I haven't done a gaming stint like that for... well I can't even remember the last time I did that.

Wow!

YES! Moo2 makes a comeback! (I haven't played in quite awhile, but sometimes old roommates and I have traveled halfway across Europe and at other times halfway across the US just to sit down and play).

Now, if the game only liked the particular way I play it (I might have to get a good disk image of the game to install these days, the CD got nice 'n' scratched up.
